Radio Frequency (RF) Receivers And Sources

RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) RECEIVERS AND SOURCES

Electronic Attack Detection • Airborne RF Recorder • Radars • ECM • EW Threat Simulation • Test & Measurement • Antenna Pattern & Radar Cross Section Measurement

Highly Reliable FLOs, IFMs, RF SOUCES, DCUs, IDCUs and ACUs

  • Standardized modules and manufacturing processes for ultimate reliability
  • Consistent, continuous performance due to minimal stress on parts
  • Minimized thermal dissipation from proven, high-efficiency designs
  • Extended lifespan with voltage, current and power de-rating for parts
  • Efficient heat removal reduces electrical, mechanical and environmental stresses
  • Minimal interference (conducted and radiated) through filtering and shielding
  • Ease of maintenance and customization thanks to modular construction
  • Optimized functionality and security due to module layout, partitioning and packaging

Fast and Accurate Frequency-Locked Oscillators (FLOs)

with frequencies from 2 to 36 GHz within 100 ɳs. Accommodates AM, FM (easily modulated with no suffering on bandwidth) and PM.

  • Minimal spurious signals (spurs)
  • Nearly 10x cost savings compared to synthesizers
  • Transmitter frequency set-on time of 1 μs and stability held within 1 ms
  • Receiver frequency measurement within 100 ɳs and accuracy of 1 MHz
  • Adherence to SWaP-C requirement.

Instantaneous Frequency Measurement Units (IFMs)

are available in both single- and dual-channel configurations for wideband C, X and Ku-Band applications. IFMs accurately measure frequency as well as power level and precisely detect pulse-on-pulse signals. IFMs can be customized for:

  • Frequency bands and output powers
  • Prime power input
  • Frequency, amplitude measurement accuracy
  • Pulse width measurement accuracy
  • Digital interface for control/communication

dB-9001 | 6-18 GHz, 100 ns to CW

dB-9002 | Dual frequency 6-12 GHz and  6-18 GHz, 100 ns to CW

Integrated Stabilized RF Sources

operate in the I Band (8 to 12 GHz) and Ka-Band (30 to 36 GHz). These units are highly accurate RF sources even at high-frequency switching speeds. These RF Sources offer four modes of frequency modulation. Customize for:

  • Frequency bands and output power
  • Prime power input
  • Frequency, amplitude measurement accuracy
  • Pulse width measurement accuracy
  • Modulation types
  • Digital interface for control/communication
  • Digital noise generator/source

dB-9003 | I-Band Frequency, 8-12 GHz

dB-9005 | Ka-Band Frequency, 30-36 GHz

Digital Control Units (DCUs)

can be set up with a network port to control a single FLO and other RF equipment and preprogrammed with a removable SCD card

dB-9004 | 6 – 18 GHz, amplitude & pulse shape modulation

Integrated Digital Control Units (IDCUs)

are completely integrated system controllers in a single unit that combines the control and interface power of a DCU with the RF capabilities of a FLO and the adaptability of an ACU.

Antenna Control Units (ACUs)

are used to play prerecorded antenna patterns and will compensate for platform movements such as adjusting for tilt and roll when mounted on an aircraft.

Unique Specs? Compatibility Issues? Talk to dB Control.

Designing electronic warfare (EW) equipment is a highly complex process that must result in total reliability in the field. EW system engineers often discover that the unique requirements of these applications can’t be fulfilled with off-the-shelf equipment. We resolve these challenges by offering custom design, manufacturing and in-house capabilities to test the effectiveness of your designs, meet stringent technical demands and adhere to SWAP-C requirements.

For existing units, there can be compatibility issues if you’re using RF sources and receivers of different generations. To resolve this, we analyze your situation and build translation units that allow older systems to communicate and interact with newer ones.

5 Reasons to Choose Us as Your Test System Provider

By Marcelo Ramos, dB Control VP of Engineering, RF Sources & Receivers

  1. Reliability by Design. While the base design of test systems hasn’t changed much, today’s EW products, especially radar simulation systems, are much more complex. Our stable, innovative test systems are designed to keep up with even the most advanced EW equipment.
  2. Service. Unlike test system providers who require exact test system specs before starting the design process, we’ll visit your facility, observe your resources, generate accurate specifications, and return to fine tune it and set up the digital interface after your test system is installed.
  3. Expertise. dB Control can meet your specifications even if components are difficult to acquire. We use our expertise to design custom systems that meet the most stringent requirements, including price point, size, weight and prime power.
  4. Accuracy. Need test systems that work just as well at -40°C (-40°F) as at +71°C (159.8°F)? No problem. Our test systems are designed to maintain a constant internal temperature. Plus, we calibrate every system element to compensate for whatever temperature requirement may not have been addressed by physical means.
  5. On Time Delivery. While production timelines can be affected by the availability of frequency products, our experience with a wide range of power systems and components increases the likelihood that we can find what we need to get your test system completed on time.
