dB Control Awarded $14.5m Orders For TWTAS, MPMS And High-Voltage Power Supplies To Support Secure EW/EM Spectrum Dominance
Reliable Power Products for Airborne and Ground-Based EW Systems Will Help Defend Against Threats During Simulations and Real-World Operations
Fremont, Calif. – October 23, 2024 – dB Control, a supplier of mission-critical (often sole-source) products worldwide to military organizations, major defense contractors, and commercial manufacturers, was awarded six contracts worth a total of $14.5 million for TWT amplifiers (TWTAs), high-voltage power supplies (HVPS), and wideband microwave power modules (MPMs) to support secure electronic warfare (EW) applications domestically and overseas. The power products will be used in airborne and ground-based EW systems to increase control of the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum and help military forces stay ahead of evolving threats, boost jamming capabilities and disrupt adversarial EW tactics. Details of the contracts include:
TWTAs for EW Training and Threat Simulation ($6.2M)
- $3.7M order for TWTAs to support foreign airborne EW training through radar, communications jamming and threat simulation
- $2.5M order for TWTAs on two programs that support EW simulations
TWTAs (S, C, X and Ku-Band) for Ground-Based EW ($3.7M)
- $3.7M order for S, C, X and Ku-Band TWTAs to support ground-based EW systems
MPMs, TWTAs and HVPS for Foreign EW Systems ($4.6M)
- $2.4M order for wideband pulsed MPMs for foreign military on a US military aircraft
- $1.1M order for TWTAs to support a foreign airborne EW system
- $1.1M order for custom High Voltage Power Supplies for a foreign EW system
“Customers choose dB Control because they know the technical capabilities of our products will power the tactical effectiveness of their EW systems and radar technology – whether 50,000 feet in the air or on the ground. The contracts underscore just how critical it is for our military forces to have reliable power products that can detect and defend against threats in real time,” said dB Control Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mike Lee.
Every product manufactured by dB Control is designed to withstand harsh environments and operate reliably in extremely complex conditions. dB Control TWTAs contain tightly packaged high-voltage circuitry without sacrificing reliability or performance thanks to the company’s proprietary potting and encapsulation process. With the introduction of its latest dB-4051 series, dB Control is now the only manufacturer covering the entire 2 to 40 GHz spectrum with two HPAs.
Likewise, dB Control MPMs seamlessly combine traveling wave tube and solid state technology to satisfy power requirements across the 2 to 45.5 GHz frequency band. Plus, these high-efficiency, conduction-cooled MPMs feature extremely dense packaging to reduce size and weight.
dB Control HVPS are custom designed to meet stringent SWaP requirements using the company’s core technologies. Both high- and low-voltage power supplies feature very low phase noise and spurious, and excellent thermal management. Reliability and full MIL-spec operation is ensured by dB Control’s in-house manufacturing processes (encapsulation and pressure curing) and thorough testing (RF, environmental, HALT and HASS).Specialized contract manufacturing and build-to-print services are available.
Model numbers and additional specifications for dB Control products can be found in the company’s Datasheet Library.
About dB Control
Established in 1990, dB Control supplies mission-critical (often sole-source) products worldwide to military organizations, major defense contractors, and commercial manufacturers. The company designs and manufactures reliable high- and low-voltage power supplies, high-power TWT Amplifiers (TWTAs), microwave power modules (MPMs), transmitters for radar, electronic countermeasures (ECM) and communication applications on airborne, maritime, and ground-based military platforms. After acquiring TTT-Cubed in 2019, Paciwave in 2021, and Charter Engineering in 2022, dB Control expanded its product line to offer coaxial EM and pin diode RF switches, specialized RF/microwave components, integrated microwave subsystems, and custom radio frequency (RF) receivers and sources. dB Control also provides specialized contract manufacturing and repair depot services from its 40,000-square-foot facility in Fremont, California. The company is AS 9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified. More information is available at www.dBControl.com or by calling 1-510-656-2325.
