Defense Manufacturer Will Design Custom High-Efficiency Microwave Power Module for Maritime Search, Surveillance, Imaging, Weather Avoidance
Fremont, Calif. – September 10, 2020 – dB Control was awarded a $1+ million contract for a rotary airborne microwave power module (MPM). The high-efficiency dB-3756HE MPM will be implemented into a radar system used for maritime search, surveillance, tracking, imaging and/or weather avoidance. The system is capable of tracking multiple moving targets, which can enhance situational and peripheral awareness during tactical operations.
The customized dB-3756HE will enable the radar system to capture high-resolution images and perform a wide range of operations while onboard rotary-wing aircraft. This is made possible because the MPM features a very high duty cycle of 20 percent. The product also incorporates a high-efficiency helix mini traveling wave tube (TWT) for power amplification. Additional features of the dB-3756HE include:
- X-Band Frequency range and 1kW output power
- Light weight of 10 pounds for use on airborne platforms
- Full 1,000 MHz of bandwidth extensively tested to ensure reliability in extreme conditions
The MPM will be designed, manufactured and tested at dB Control’s 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Fremont, CA over the next year.
