dB Control Technology VP Meppalli Shandas Named to 2010 SPIE Radar Sensor Technology XIV Conference Project Committee
Fremont, Calif. — dB Control, an established manufacturer of reliable, high-power microwave amplifiers, radar transmitters and power supplies, announced today that Vice President of Technology and Business Development Meppalli Shandas has been named to the Project Committee of the annual Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) Defense, Security and Sensing’s Radar Sensor Technology XIV Conference for the second consecutive year. The conference will be held from April 5-9, 2010 in Orlando, Florida.
Shandas, along with 20 other distinguished committee members, will assist conference chairs in reviewing and selecting abstracts that will be presented at the event. The selected presentations will showcase the latest in radar advancements and further SPIE’s mission of advancing an interdisciplinary approach to the science and application of light.
“With four decades of experience designing microwave hardware for EW, radar, and communication systems, Shandas will bring considerable industry insight and in-depth technical knowledge to the committee and the selection process,” said dB Control CEO Joe Hajduk.
Shandas was one of leading contributors to the Tri-Service Microwave Power Module Program managed by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in the early 1990s where the MPM was invented. He continued to champion MPM technology and introduced new products throughout his career with Varian (now CPI). After joining dB Control in 1999, Shandas was critical to the development of an entire line of MPMs featuring unparalleled performance and reliability. In 2008, he was inducted into the AOC Electronic Warfare Technology Hall of Fame for his efforts as a prime innovator of microwave power module technology.
