dB Control VP of Technology and Business Meppalli Shandas Named a Microwave Legend

Fremont, Calif.  –dB Control, an established manufacturer known for its reliable high-power microwave amplifiers, radar transmitters and power supplies, today announced that Vice President of Technology and Business Development Meppalli Shandas will be honored as a “Microwave Legend” by Microwaves & RF Magazine. Since 2006, the publication has annually named five new people, places or products that have had the most significant influence on the microwave industry.

“There is no doubt that Shandas is a true microwave legend,” said dB Control CEO Joseph Hajduk. “He has a deep understanding of microwave technology and knows how to apply it to solve our customer’s challenges. It is wonderful to see Shandas now be recognized for his efforts by such a respected publication as Microwaves & RF.

Respectfully referred to by many in the industry as the “Father of the MPM,” Shandas has spent the last 40 years designing microwave hardware for Electronic Warfare (EW), radar and communication systems. He was one of leading contributors to the Tri-Service MPM Program managed by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in the early 1990s when the MPM was invented.

Since joining dB Control in 1999, he has been integral to the development of the company’s diverse MPM product line for power radar systems, electronic counter measure systems, EW simulators and data links and for a variety of platforms, including the Predator A/B, Fire Scout, Global Hawk, F16, Lynx I/II and the ULQ-21 Pod.

In 2008, Shandas was inducted into the Association of Old Crows (AOC) Electronic Warfare Technology Hall of Fame for his innovative developments in EW technology. He continues to be invited to review industry-specific abstracts and manuscripts, including showcasing the latest in radar advancements for the annual Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) Radar Sensor Technology Conference. Shandas earned his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology in India.
